As Riley lay on her bed the chilly New York Winter Morning of December 6th she thought about her best Friend Maya. Maya was going to be alone on christmas because Katy was working, Riley couldn't let that happen. She picked up her phone and called her best friend. "Sup loser" said Maya affectionately on the other end of the line. "Hey Maya, I was wondering if you'd want to spend Christmas with us this year?" Riley asked, slightly nervous but knowing the answer already calmed her down. "Really? I Don't wanna be an inconvenience?" Maya was worried that she'd just get in the way. "No, not a problem at all!" Riley exclaimed. Maya was Exctatic. "In fact, why don't you come over now?" Riley offered. "Yeah sure! let me just grab my coat, be over in 15"
FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER
Maya opened the unlocked door of the Matthews Apartment, she took in the familiar sight, she appreciated every second she got to be there. Maya walked straight into Riley's room and saw her reading a textbook on her bed. "God, you're such a nerd" Maya said laughing. "Heyyy!" Riley exclaimed fake pouting. "Aww its okay, love you anyways" Said Maya walking over to sit down next to her friend. "so its your birthday soon..." Riley started, knowing Maya resented her birthday since it was the day after christmas."... and I wanna know what to get you" Maya rolled her eyes "I've told you before, i don't want anything." Okay" Riley said, dropping the topic, "Oh i forgot to tell you, my uncle Josh is coming this weekend for a while, wanna spend the week with us?" Maya was jovial. She thought Riley detested her relationship with Joshua Matthews but apparently not. "Yes please! I havent seen him in MONTHS!" and with that Maya daydreamed about the next week and how it would go. maybe this year Christmas and my birthday won't be so bad.
